Some newer vehicles may require a spacer to bring the mirror further out from the windshield, particularly those vehicles that have various safety devices mounted on the windshield with a black cover over the devices. If the cover surrounds the stem of the mirror, this may prevent the mirror from being properly adjusted. This spacer will also help if the vehicle's mirror is too close to the headliner & will allow the mirror to be brought out & down from the windshield a bit.
